Day 22 AI Chatbot Quizzes Me — Part 2
I've been having fun with the AI vocabulary quizzes I described in my earlier post.
If you want to see how the activity works, you can read that post here: Asking an AI Chatbot to Quiz Me.
Since then I’ve been doing a few quizzes each day. Sometimes I repeat earlier categories for review, and sometimes I just try to think of interesting new categories.
I’m not sure if this is the most effective way to learn vocabulary, but it does give me repetition, and it’s encouraging when I get most — or even all — of the questions correct in a set. Moments like that remind me that I really am learning some vocabulary.
And when I get zero questions correct — like when I asked for things made of metal — I just smile and move on. ChatGPT usually gives me a few tips about the words I missed, and then asks what category I’d like next. Sometimes it even suggests new ones.
Mostly, it’s just fun.
Here are some of the categories I’ve tried so far:
- things that are spherical
- inner body
- liquids
- vegetables
- sweet foods
- pizza toppings
- square things
- things that are yellow
- things that are green
- things you can put water into
- common words that start with τ
- high-frequency verbs
- things that are white
- things made of metal
- things that can be turned on
- relatives
- things that are normally striped
- things you walk on
- drinks
- things in a kitchen
- things that you can read
- school subjects
- countries
- languages
- fruit
- words you see on a menu
- things you see at the beach
- things on wheels
- nouns you need in a restaurant
- verbs you need in a restaurant
- furniture
This has turned out to be a surprisingly enjoyable way to review vocabulary. It’s easy to start a quiz, try a few categories, and get a little practice even when I don’t feel like doing something more demanding.
