Day 55 Comparing AI tools
Today I wanted some help learning a list of verbs, and I have also been wanting to do a comparison of AI tools, so this seemed like the perfect test.
To begin, I uploaded a photo of my handwritten list of verbs into the chat. There are 47 words in the list, but 4 of them only have the English, not the Greek.
I then asked three questions:
- Can you help me learn these verbs?
- Can you make flash cards for these words?
- Can you make me a multiple choice quiz to learn the words?
Perplexity
(model: GPT-5.1)
1. Can you help me learn these verbs?
It printed out the list of words in the chat. I thought that was helpful. I can either cut and paste the list into a document or make screenshots of the list and keep them in a photo album dedicated to vocabulary.
It suggested a daily practice routine to help me learn. Some of the advice was not helpful, for example:
“When you study, say the whole group several times in Greek only, then in English only.”
2. Can you make flash cards for these words?
It made a set of 20 flash cards as an interactive activity that I can click on in the app.
Instead of just writing the word it wrote: “Give the English meaning of the Greek verb ‘Θέλω’.” and on the other side it wrote: “The Greek verb ‘Θέλω’ means ‘to want’. It is used to express desires, wishes, or intentions as in ‘Θέλω νερό’ (I want water).”. That made the cards too cluttered.
3. Can you make me a multiple choice quiz to learn the words?
It created a 10-question multiple choice quiz as a clickable activity inside the chat.
Sample question: You want to describe your job and say “I work in a hospital”. Which Greek verb fits best for “I work”?
When answering correctly, it gave me the translation of the English sentence and another way to use the Greek verb. That could be helpful, but I would have preferred a simple word translation app.
Gemini
(model: Gemini 3 Flash)
1. Can you help me learn these verbs?
It grouped some of the verbs into categories like daily actions, senses, and motion, and suggested learning those mini-sets.
It gave some tips about pronunciation.
It suggested building two-word sentences. This was less helpful because creating sentences would be hard if I didn’t know how to decline the verbs.
It asked whether I wanted it to create a short practice quiz or show me how to conjugate one of the verbs. I liked these suggestions. I thought it was good that the chatbot took the initiative.
2. Can you make flash cards for these words?
It created a list called “Greek Verb flash cards” in Google Keep. I could click the list and open it in the Google Keep app (which I had never used before). It was a list with checkboxes. When I checked the ones I knew, they moved down below to the "Checked Items" section.
But it wasn’t flash cards.
(See the next section for how it eventually created flash cards.)
3. Can you make me a multiple choice quiz to learn the words?
It made a 10-question quiz with a link that opened the quiz as an app.
After finishing the quiz it offered options to Keep Learning:
- Flash cards
- Study Guide
- Review quiz
- More questions
The "More questions" option allowed me to create a new quiz with 5, 10, or 20 questions.
When I clicked "flash cards", it created a flash card app with "25 verbs"! Why didn't it do that when I asked if it could make flash cards earlier?
Features:
- Greek word on one side, English on the other
- No extra text
- Option to Track learning
- Mark yourself right or wrong
- Practice the ones you got wrong
There appeared to be a share option, but it only shared the link to Gemini itself, not to the flash card app.
Claude
(model: Sonnet 4.6)
1. Can you help me learn these verbs?
Claude didn't immediately give me lots to read. It instead asked how I wanted to study.
Options included:
- flash cards (Greek → English)
- quiz me (type the answer)
- group them by theme
- all of the above
I selected "Group them".
It grouped the verbs into categories:
- Communication
- Mind & Senses
- Movement
- etc.
Then it asked if I wanted to start quizzing one group at a time.
I said yes, and it gave me a verb to translate into English. It labeled it "Question 1 of 4".
I didn’t continue the activity, but I liked that the chatbot was taking the initiative and thinking about ways to help me learn.
2. Can you make flash cards for these words?
Claude created a flash card app.
It took several minutes to generate, but the result was very good.
Features:
- Option to study all words or one group
- Option to mark whether you know the word
- Uses all 47 words
- Words appear in a different order each time
It also offers publishing options:
- Only you have access
- Anyone with the link
You can see the flash card app here:
Claude flash cards
3. Can you make me a multiple choice quiz to learn the words?
Claude created a really nice quiz app.
Features:
- 10 questions
- Option to choose all words or a category
- Randomized order each time
Example:
I selected "Work & Daily Life". That category had 6 verbs, so the quiz became 6 questions.

Claude multiple-choice quiz
Copilot
(model: unknown)
1. Can you help me learn these verbs?
It explained how to conjugate the verbs.
It gave sample sentences.
It grouped the verbs into categories and highlighted high-frequency verbs to learn first.
It explained that some verbs have two forms, which went beyond my list.
Then it suggested study activities:
- multiple choice quiz
- flash cards
- step-by-step explanations of difficult verbs
2. Can you make flash cards for these words?
It created a flashcard app using 30 of the words.
Features:
- Mark words right or wrong
- Review wrong answers
- Option to repeat
- Option to share
The cards always appear in the same order.
You can see the flash card app here: Copilot flash cards
3. Can you make me a multiple choice quiz to learn the words?
It created a 15-question quiz app.
It allowed me to generate another quiz, but the new quizzes only had 5 questions.
It gave me an option to share the quiz, but when I tested the shared quiz:
- the first quiz used verbs from my list
- new quizzes sometimes included verbs not from my list

ChatGPT
(model: Auto – GPT-5.3 or 5.4)
1. Can you help me learn these verbs?
It suggested which verbs to learn first.
It gave sample sentences.
It explained how to conjugate them.
It gave a 5-question mini-quiz in the chat.
**It offered to make a **5-minute drill**.
It did not offer flash cards or a quiz.
2. Can you make flash cards for these words?
It gave a list of the Greek words and said it would format them so I could:
- copy them into a flashcard app
- print them
It also offered to make a printable PDF to cut into flash cards.
3. Can you make me a multiple choice quiz?
It created a 15-question quiz in the chat.
Instructions: Write the answers like: 1. A, 2. B…
After scoring the quiz it immediately generated another quiz, this time English → Greek.
I liked that it encouraged continued study immediately.
Flash card app attempt
I later asked:
Can you make a flash card app for me?
It did create a .html file "for easy use in a browser". And then after 6 minutes it had a link to open the flash card app. The app appeared but did not work.
I have used ChatGPT a lot for writing code, but it is not good at making ready-to-use apps.
So what is my favourite based on today's test?
Question 1: Can you help me learn these verbs?
- Perplexity printed the list clearly.
- Gemini, Copilot, and ChatGPT grouped the verbs. Claude did too, after asking if it should.
- Copilot and ChatGPT gave many example sentences.
My favourites: Copilot and ChatGPT.
They both:
- gave example sentences
- explained verb forms
- suggested practical study methods
Questions 2 & 3: Flash cards and multiple choice quizzes
- Last place: ChatGPT
- Winner: Claude
Claude was the best by far.
When asked to make flash cards and a quiz it created excellent apps:
- good looking
- used all the words
- randomized the order
- work well
- shareable
Best Overall
- Winner: Claude
